Dr Abhaya Sumanasena, Head of Policy and Regulation at Real Wireless has been appointed to the Ofcom Spectrum Advisory Board (OSAB), which provides independent advice to Ofcom on strategic spectrum management issues.
With over 20 years of experience developing forward spectrum strategies and policies, Abhaya will work alongside other members to provide independent strategic advice to help Ofcom to carry out its remit in securing optimal use of the radio spectrum, taking account of the different needs and interests of all users.
“I’m pleased to be appointed to the OSAB to help shape spectrum management issues and share my experience of working on strategic network capacity programmes, as well as continuing to maintain propositions and developing spectrum policies at Ofcom. My work at Real Wireless assisting regulators and communication ministries globally has also given me an invaluable view of the challenges and solutions adopted in other countries” commented Abhaya.
Other board members include Chair Gavin Young, Head of the Fixed Asset Centre of Excellence within Vodafone, and Professor Mischa Dohler, Chief Architect at Ericsson in Silicon Valley.
