Past Event: European Utilities Telecom Council (EUTC) conference

Damian Bevan will be attending this year’s annual conference of the European Utilities Telecom Council (EUTC), the event, in the EUTC’s own words, is a ‘premier gathering of industry leaders and experts set to explore the most pressing topics in energy and telecommunications’.

Damian will be presenting on the topic of the EU Horizon ‘Sustain-6G’ (S6G) programme, within which Real Wireless are consortium members, alongside another 23 partners from across Europe including academia, major network operators and equipment vendors. The aim of this S6G programme is to introduce concepts of ‘sustainability’, in the forms of ‘Economic’, ‘Social’ and ‘Environmental’ sustainability, up-front during the initial design stage of the 3GPP 6G standard.

An application domain of particular interest within the S6G programme is the electricity ‘smart grid’, which of course is also a topic of prime concern to many EUTC members. One aim of Damian’s presentation is to help EUTC members better understand the S6G programme. A second aim is to stimulate discussion with those same EUTC members in order to help the S6G programme best take into account the particular communications requirements of this smart grid application domain, whereby wireless network features such as availability, resilience and cybersecurity will assume particular importance.
