Real Wireless has joined a major new European research collaboration to build the next generation of cloud-to-edge connectivity infrastructure across the continent.
The €75 million EURO-3C Project was unveiled by the European Commission at Mobile World Congress 2026 and is funded through the Horizon Europe programme. The project will develop Europe’s first large-scale federated Telco-Edge-Cloud infrastructure, integrating telecommunications networks, edge computing and cloud capabilities into a unified platform designed to deliver secure, high-performance digital services.
Led by Telefónica Innovación Digital, the project brings together 87 consortium partners from across Europe, including telecom operators, cloud providers, software developers, equipment manufacturers, research institutions, and integration specialists.
EURO-3C aims to demonstrate how advanced digital services can be delivered entirely through European connectivity infrastructure, helping reduce reliance on third-country technology providers while strengthening Europe’s digital sovereignty. The initiative is closely aligned with the goals of the proposed Digital Networks Act (DNA) and supports broader European programmes such as Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking, IPCEI-CIS, and EuroHPC Joint Undertaking.
Rather than creating entirely new infrastructure, the project takes a pragmatic approach by federating existing telecom, cloud and AI capabilities into an open, interoperable, and secure architecture capable of operating at scale across Europe.
Real Wireless will contribute expertise in bridging industry needs, system architecture, and policy objectives to ensure the initiative translates into practical, commercially viable solutions.
Costa Tsourkas, Managing Consultant at Real Wireless, said:
“EURO-3C represents a significant step toward a truly integrated pan-European digital infrastructure. By federating existing telecom networks, cloud, edge and AI capabilities, the project is focused on delivering solutions that work technically, commercially and operationally at scale. Real Wireless is pleased to contribute its expertise to help align industry requirements with system architecture, policy objectives and real-world market impact.”
Simon Fletcher, CEO of Real Wireless, added:
“Participation in EURO-3C reflects our commitment to supporting Europe’s evolving connectivity ecosystem. Initiatives like this are essential to building the foundations for next-wave digital infrastructures, driving innovation and growth in areas such as AI, advanced connectivity and secure digital services.”
By bringing together capabilities from telecom networks, edge computing and cloud platforms, the EURO-3C project is expected to support innovation across multiple sectors while reinforcing Europe’s industrial competitiveness and technological sovereignty.
